Microsoft Security and other updates
Microsoft releases a range of security updates, operating system and other software updates. Rockwell Automation qualifies certain MS updates for software that impacts Rockwell Automation software products.
It is recommended that you implement a controlled system suitable for your application and environment, and follow the guidance below for the distribution of all updates.

Rockwell Automation Qualification of Microsoft Updates
It is strongly recommended that Microsoft updates are not applied or installed until (i) the MS update has been Fully Qualified by Rockwell Automation (ii) the results of our testing have been published and reviewed. “Fully Qualified” means that Rockwell Automation has tested the MS updates with the primary functional areas of the relevant Rockwell Software products. When completed, test results that show the areas tested will be posted for your review.
Rockwell qualifies MS updates for the Microsoft operating systems, MS Offices Products, Internet Explorer and MS SQL Server products within a short period of time of the release of the MS update but will generally qualify MS updates denoted as “Critical” with first testing priority.
Before implementing any Fully Qualified MS updates, you should verify them on a non-production system, or when the facility is non-active, to ensure that there are no unexpected results or side effects.
You may contact us with any test related questions or concerns, however for technical issues we suggest contacting Rockwell Automation Technical Support for troubleshooting assistance.
